Well, I had my allergy testing done on Monday and turns out I’m very allergic to alot of stuff down here. Mostly alot of the trees and grasses, but also the molds, which I was allergic to up north as well, but one other interesting and yucky thing: cockroaches. It is one of the indoor allergants that they test for here in Florida and is the one of them that i’m allergic to, well more specifically, their saliva, as explained by my allergist. I’ve never seen any in my house and hope I never do - YUCK!
I start my allergy shots tomorrow, and they take about 3-4 months to start working. But, I am starting into the allergy break season (Oct-Dec) soon, so hopefully by the time they ramp back up in January the shots will have started doing their job because let me tell you, it’s been a miserable summer. After taking shots for 10 years in Ohio I thought I was done with this routine, but oh well, it’s worth it to me to feel better.
Oh, and turns out I’m also dairy intolerant too. I am not technically “allergic” to dairy, but I am intolerant to it as it makes my eczema on my hand go crazy. I’ve tried very cream and icky medicine you can imagine on it for the past 20 years and just by not eating dairy it has cleared up. The doctor confirmed that this makes me dairy intolerant. However their is no magic shot for this, so I will just have to avoid dairy and foods that contain it which has turned out to be rather difficult – not so much with the milk part of it, but it’s the cheese that seems to be in almost everything….
I have talked with some people at work who have been to visit a lady in town that specializes in curing food intolerances and allergies by doing some kind of “body talk” treatment – non-invasive, no shots, or anything. They joke and call her the voodoo dr., but after a call to her receptionist she confirmed that food allergies are her specialty and she has indeed cured many diary intolerant people. hmm….I will have to check this out further as a lifetime without cheese is looking bleak. I’ll keep you posted.
